AI-Native Architecture: The Future of Software

Q: What is AI-native architecture?

AI-native architecture designs systems where AI is the core logic engine, not an add-on. Instead of traditional if-else business rules, AI-native systems use models for classification, generation, and decision-making as first-class components.

Q: How is AI-native different from AI-enabled?

AI-enabled adds AI to existing systems (e.g., chatbot on a website). AI-native rebuilds the system around AI capabilities (e.g., an interface that adapts entirely based on AI understanding of user intent).

Q: Will AI replace traditional software?

AI will not replace all traditional software, but it will increasingly replace rule-based systems, manual classification, content generation, and pattern recognition tasks. CRUD operations and deterministic logic remain in traditional code.

Q: What skills do developers need for AI-native development?

Developers need: understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations, prompt engineering, vector database design, evaluation methodology, AI system testing (non-deterministic outputs), and AI-specific observability skills.
