Q: Does ACID apply across microservices?

No — and no configuration makes it apply. ACID's guarantees are the property of a single database engine coordinating its own transactions; the moment an operation spans two services with two databases, there is no shared transaction, no shared isolation level, and no atomic commit across them (two-phase commit exists but is avoided in modern service architectures for its blocking failure modes and coordinator fragility). The distributed substitutes trade isolation for explicitness.
